UMTMC is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The first regular toastmaster meeting for session 2012/2013 semester 1 started today. The theme of today's meeting is patriotism as Malaysia day just passed by . We wish Malaysia is thriving and prospering day by day.

Here is the highlight of today's meeting:

TM Siau Inn is the Toastmaster of the Evening, Well done! Keep It up.

Our New President TM Wei Chin is giving her 1st presidential speech. She will Lead UMTMC move towards!!!!!!!!!

The table topic session was conducted by our vice president of education, TM Agnes as her very first attempt! In fact, it was her very impromptu table topic session~ The table topic speakers had briefly told us their understanding towards unity and peace. Moreover, our president TM Wei Chin shared with us what is her favourite malaysian hero: her lovely farther.

The best table topic speaker is TM Victor Loh from Satu Hati Toastmaster Club, hope TM Victor Loh come our meeting again and again. You are always welcome.

Area W1 Humourous Speech and Evaluation Contest 2012

On the 6th of September 2012, ACB CL Jing Yi, CC Ing Ting, TM Siau Inn, TM Chen Long, TM Rishi, TM Agnes and TM Wei Chin joined the crowd at MAICSA, No. 57, 3rd Floor, The Boulevard, Mid Valley City, Lingkaran Syed Putra, 59200 Kuala Lumpur.

Having TM Rishi and TM Agnes as Timers, TM Chen Long as Ballot Counter and TM Siau Inn as the Assistant Sergeant at Arms, it was no surprise that the event was able to proceed smoothly with nil problems. So, how are the representatives of UM who were contesting?

CC Ing Ting gave a stunning evaluating speech; highlighting the best and what could be polished in an advanced speech while TM Wei Chin delivered a Humorous Speech. So how did we fare?

With that, club photo... club photo...After all, our achievement was not borne from a single man's effort but a club's effort to support each other forward to be a better speaker, leader and person.

Meeting No.113

Theme : Wearing Green

Word Of The Day : Nickname

Yesterday was our last meeting in this semester. As the last gathering, we fixed wearing green clothing as the theme of the day as an action to support the "Go Green" awareness. In fact, everyone of us was asked to say out the nickname given to us.

The table topic session was conducted by our in-coming president, TM Wei Chin as her very first attempt! In fact, it was her very impromptu table topic session~ =D The table topic speakers had briefly told us something related to their nicknames and that really soared the meeting~

The meeting even went slight uncontrolled I should say especially in the project speeches session. The first project speech speaker, TM Kevin Chee (Dr Yeoh) told about the TYPES OF ABORTION with scary body languages showing how fetus can be aborted by curretage method. The audiences even felt terrified when listening to second project speech speaker, TM Siau Inn (Siau Siau) with her title, PHOBIA-KNOWING THEM. This had made us recall back our frightening moment! TM Agnes (A HONG) calmed our mind down with her speech title, STRESS by teaching us how to overcome stress with several tips~ I could still remember her "RELAX" tips in handling stress. Here came the final speaker, TM Yik Ming (A MING) telling us that COMPETITION IS BAD FOR CHILDREN. In fact, competition is at everywhere~

"Even if you're not my rival today, you could be tomorrow!"

Meeting No.112 and Annual General Meeting 2011/2012

We mafficked with joy and cheers as we celebrated the birth of University Malaya Toastmasters Club's new president and the new team of exco members for term 2012/2013. It was a fun-filled day as our club meeting was visited by several special guest. TM Giles from MIM Toastmasters Club was the general evaluator, Mr Mahadi (officer from CITRA, UM) and later on our Area W1 Governor, Sook Ping and the upcoming Area W1 Governor, Son Lee came after work and witnessed our AGM.

The evening was made even joyous as we have 2 members attaining the title "Competent Communicator" after completing all the 10 speeches in the competent communication manual. They are CC Wan Xin and CC Roanne, with more than 3 years in their Toastmasters journey and they have tasted the fruit of success. Well done and keep up the good work!

Meeting No.111

First of all, million thanks to DTM Geoff Andrew, CTM Richard Hoy and CC CL Ann Wong from MIM Toastmasters Club of Kuala Lumpur for visiting our club meeting. We have learned many things from these seasoned Toastmasters.

Club visit to MAICSA Toastmasters Club

Ladies and gentlemen,

Today we visited one of the club in our Area W1, MAICSA Toastmasters Club (also the home club of our Area Governor, ACB ALB Sook Ping and DTM Daddy Vincent Hor). MAICSA is the acronym for Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

Meeting No. 109- The Ice Breaker Day

Today's meeting was full of inspiration and motivation as we witnessed 5 new 'Toastees' performing their Ice Breaker speeches.

The day started with the club president, ACB CL Jing Yi, sharing her experience on how she was inspired by the evaluations on her first speech and kindled the spark for the meeting. TM Wei Chin did an awesome job as the toastmaster of the evening for the very first time. She emceed the meeting with lots of joy and laughter.

The energy got even higher when the table topics master, TM Fatima (also for the first time), came out with a special table topics session where we need to become actors like the Hollywood stars!

Then came the main highlight of the meeting, our Ice Breaker speeches of course!

TM Ann started the ball rolling by sharing her love towards rabbits, her favourite colour and her passion in microbiology.

The voracious reader, TM Siau Inn talked about her nerdy side, but to us reading is not nerdy at all! Now we know how she acquire the good command of English.

TM Yik Ming displayed his talent in humorous speaking when he talked about his obsession towards anime and ghost movies in the most hilarious way.

Our ambitious TM Kevin shared his desire of becoming a good public speaker and dream of becoming a politician in the future.

Last but not the least, our TM Wen Hao spoke of his parents and their influence over his self development.

The evaluation session continued after the 10 minutes break, CC Kah Fai took over as the general evaluator with his team of evaluators, DTM Dr Devi, ACB CL Ivy Lau, ACB CL Jing Yi, TM Ing Ting and TM JiaQuan. The evaluations for the speakers were constructive and for sure it had injected great confidence in our new members for their future speeches.

CC Kah Fai wrapped up the meeting with lots of word of encouragement and we are absolutely positive to our new members soar to become excellent speakers and leaders in the future! Keep 'toasting'!
