Meeting No: 133

                                                Theme : Conscience
Word of the day : Diligence

So it was Monday Blue. However, a 2-hour session with University Malaya Toastmasters Club (UMTMC) would change the hue!

With the theme of the meeting – ‘Conscience’, it seemed that most of the club members lived up to theirs by making their appearance in the meeting. Indeed, actions speak louder than words!

CC Wei Chin on the floor!

Once you find on the itinerary that CC Wei Chin was the Toastmaster of the Evening (Emcee), the meeting will never be short of laughter. You can bet it. Her lively character coupled with the convenient ambience of the renovated meeting room made the participants to wish the time to walk a little bit slower. (Not sure about the fidgeting speaker though)

The meeting was started off with Table Topic session, with several speakers being volunteered to the stage. Despite the feeling of doom for several speakers, it turned out to be well, with each and every speaker had a host of thoughts and emotions to spill. After all, life is about sharing. Yet, sometimes, the impetus comes from being lifted off the cosy Boss-office chair.

Next, it was the exciting Project Speech Session. TM Nur Syafinas and TM Siau Inn, who will be representing the club to contest in the coming Humorous Speech Contest at Area level, seized the chance to practice their speech on the stage. With much fine-tuning work, they improved leaps and bounds in all aspects. GOOD LUCK!

After that, CC Kevin Chee, a hilarious speaker, entertained the audience by showing what you can do with your personal disadvantage, with the speech title – It’s Great to be Short. Moving on, here came the persuasive salesman with the speech title ‘A Magnificent Guide’ which was about promoting a motivational book. If not for having not enough pocket money, most students would have gone for the purchase rampage.

Dr. Devi sharing her insights and precious advices.

In Toastmasters, you can never call it a day without an evaluation session. This is where the positive and constructive feedback comes. With figures like DTM Dr. Devi, ATMB Mustazah and   ACB,CL CL Joseph Wong participating the session, one A4 paper can never be enough to accommodate the take home messages. It takes self-realization, connection and attention.

For those hiding behind the computer screen, just come and experience it. You have nothing to lose. See you!
