Theme : Halloween

Word of the day : Horrendous

Last meeting was a Halloween Themed, nobody dressed up but members had a high spirit of Halloween. Beside Halloween there was another special event occurred in UM TMC, Induction Ceremony for New Members. The Toastmasters 'induction ceremony' is a little bit like a marriage, where the new members confirm their intention to be active members, and the old members confirm their willingness to help the new members. 

The Toastmaster of the Evening was none other than our very own TM Nicholas Chai. With his winning smile he welcome everyone and started the meeting.

The Induction Ceremony for New Members started and Club President Nur Shafinas called all the new members to the stage.

Club President Nur Shafinas was reading members' pledge. At the end she asked them to respond with the words "I will".





Experienced members were pledging to help and support new members.




Meeting started with the project speech session. Total five members gave their speeches that evening, in which two of new members TM Sharvin and TM Kah Mun gave their first ice-breaker speech.

After break GE CC CL,Malcom Sze took the stage, Speech Evaluators CC Malcolm Sze, DTM Dr Devi, TM Jacky Wong, ACB Ing Ting and CC Yik Ming gave their honest and sincere evaluation to speakers.

The sharp-eared Grammarian Nur Shafinas gave her report followed by Timer's Report done byTM Tenisha. As a new member and first timer she played her role very well. Enthusiastic member,TM Che Jin did her very first Ah-Counter role. And he passed with flying colors.

When it came to the Awards session, TM Sharvin won the Best Project Speaker award whereas CC Malcolm Sze won as the Best Evaluator of the evening.

Club President presented token of appreciation to General Evaluator, Malcom Sze, for making his effort coming to our Club and giving us his valuable feedback.

Good news for UMTMC 


Area Governor CC ALB, Tan Ing Ting presented UM Toastmasters Club with 15 pins for achieving 7 DCP Goals.

It may have just started as a small meeting, lots of events occurred at the end, everyone went home with a smile.

Meeting no: 159

Theme : Impossible Assignment

Word of the day : Convocation


The meeting was started off by president, Nur Shafinas and was taken forward by TME Jacky Wong. The energetic TME bought in the topic called "Convocation". Each spring the universities celebrates the outstanding academic achievements of students at the Convocation Ceremony. Its a time for students and their families to join with University administration, faculty, staff, and their peers to celebrate their academic success.

Nicholas Chai as Table Topic Master took stage and four brave speakers took the challenge with much confidence. The table topic titles were aligned to the theme of “Impossible Assignment".

Congratulations to Impromptu speakers. All new speakers volunteered themselves, they faced audiences with courage and delivered their two minutes speech without any hesitation. Well done!

Now its time for project speeches and there were four assignment speakers. Our first assignment speaker, ACS Heng Jing Yi.


Our second assignment speaker, TM Nur Shafinas. She  presented her seventh speech on a topic called “A German Boy”. Her speech aroused the audiences’ curiosity. She shared the story of a five year old German boy,who gained his strength and muscles through gene mutation. It was a very interesting speech. Good Work!




ACB Sara Ajmal did her funny speech on the topic called, “The Riverside Picnic”. She shared her childhood story about a trip to riverside. 



Our last speaker of the evening was CL, ACB Tan Ing Ting. Her speech title “Sharing Your Vision” gave us insight look on Toastmasters Competent Leader Track. It gave us lots of useful information about Toastmasters Leadership journey.



Now it’s time for refreshments.... 

Today was a great day as it was the birthday of UM toastmasters’ dear mentor, “Dr Devi”. 
Dr Devi is with UMTMC since the beginning, her guidance, love has supported our club.  To show her love and support she baked cake for all of TMC's members. 

Thank you so much Dr Devi. 


Happy Birthday Dr. Devi !!! May this day bring to you all things that make you smile.
We all love You!!!!

Theme : To Be Different

Word of the day : Contrary 


There are many people out there who want to be "part of the crowd." If you want to be the leader and stand out from the crowd. It's a wonderful feeling to know that you are original and unique. Know what you want, what you like, try new things and don't bother to impress others. Toastmaster polishes your communication skills, develops leadership skills and makes you can stand out off crowd.

Our second  meeting was held in KPS at Bilik seminar 1, the room was packed with members and guests. Club president Nur Shafinas gave her president address and welcomed everybody.

Now its time for Project Speeches...

Project Speakers:TM Chin Wei,  ACB CL Sara Ajmal, ACB CL Yew  Yi

ACB CL Sara Ajmal was presenting her speech on Placebo Effects: Fake Pill, Real Power.
It was an interesting topic that caught audiences attention.

TM Chin Wei gave her CC Project Speech no 7 on Pose your Body for Power and Performance. She showed different poses and various styles to appear confident for better performance. 

ACB CL Yew  Yi was doing his ACS Project Speech, Selling a Product. His speech title was, "Rower Your Fitness Partner". Yew Yi was so excited about his product, he sold it well and at the end everyone wants a Rower.

TM Yee Yuan gave his first Ice Breaker Speech, titled  "I". The new member appeared very confident as he was explaining about his life and his home town.

Refreshments were served during break, thanks to SAA Yew Yi and guest TM Chin Wei for delicious cakes and curry puffs.

DTM Vincent Hor was playing General Evaluate, he gave a very sincere and in-depth evaluation to each participant. By following his advice, UM Toastmasters can improve more in their future meetings.Thanks for coming.
